Thursday Morning - 2 weels later

It's hard to believe that my accident was 2 weeks ago today. In some ways it seems like 2 years ago - in others it seems like 2 hours. The healing process continues. Adjustments here at the house are constant - a piece of furniture moved to make room for the wheelchair - a pile of books left here & there for easy access, etc. (Thanks guys for thr wheelchair ramps!!)

Several things have become crystal clear to me over the last 2 weeks. As I reflect on these I'll write more in the coming days- but here is the summary:
First, my trust in Jesus is not misplaced. He has shown Himself to be so faithful. His covenant love for me and His peace that guards my heart have upheld me. From the moment I hit the pavement 2 weeks ago uintil now He has been my refuge and strength.
Second, Susan is the second greatest thing that ever happened in my life. Her love, devotion and service to me is steadfast and given in joy. I am a blessed man to be married to her.
Third, we are blessed with the men God has called to serve here at Westwood. My heart is filled with thankfulness and joy as I see Jonathan, Jason, Justin and Jim stand in the gap and serve God's people here at Westwood. Please pray for them as they serve. They are not only great co-laborers - they are great friends!!
Finally, the love and support of my church family has been sustaining, refreshing and God-honoring. Every visit, call , card, e-mail, meal and act of service are like a hug from God - His personal touch of love. Thanks to each of you for loving the Lord the way you do and expressing that love for Him as you serve.

Earlier this week a dear brother sent me a copy of Spurgeon's Morning & Evening Devotion for John 10:27: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." Part of the devotion reads: Let us put full trust in our Leader, since we know that, come prosperity or adversity, sickness or health, popularity or contempt, His purpose shall be worked out, and that purpose shall be pure, unmingled good to every heir of mercy. We shall find it sweet to go up the bleak side of the hill with Christ; and when rain and snow blow into our faces, His dear love will make us far more blest than those who sit at home and warm their hands at the world's fire.

Thank you for you continued prayers for us. During this 'down time" pray that my trust in my Leader will grow stronger than ever - that I'll be better able to hear His voice, and that this will indeed be a sweet trip to this side of the hill for all of us.

  2. a riddle for you and laugh for the day:

what is better then 'one knee fish'?
    Two knee fish!

say it 3 times aloud, you'll get it! it's a catchy riddle, really, just keep saying it in your head.
remember what God said, laughter is the best medicine!
i thinks He may be laughing at this joke; actually he's laughing at me for even sending you this joke...
